About Shadow Hills Equestrian Center Excursions

We offer trail rides in small groups of four to six people for a more enjoyable experience. For larger parties, we can accommodate up to 10 riders at a time. Private rides are also available in at double the price of the regular rates.
Our horses are happy, healthy, and well-groomed, ensuring a great riding experience. We operate from 8 am until dusk, Wednesday-Sunday with the exception of holidays. The trails offer breathtaking views of the Tujunga Wash, a wilderness reserve spanning 60,000 acres, and the stunning Verdugo Mountains. You may even encounter hawks, deer, and coyotes during your ride.
Rides are weather and trail conditions permitting. All rides use western tack, and helmets are mandatory for all riders aged 9 and older (helmets provided free of charge). Guests aged 18 and older must present a valid driver's license or a form of ID and sign a liability release waiver.
TRAIL RIDE RULES AND POLICIES

Experience Requirement: No previous experience is necessary. All riders must attend a mandatory horsemanship class before going on the trail. Children aged 9 years and older are welcome to participate in the trail rides. Riders aged 18 years and younger must have a parental release form signed. There is an individual weight limit of 200 lbs.

What to Wear and Bring
Please wear long pants and closed-toe shoes. High heels, open-toe/heel shoes, and inappropriate footwear are not allowed. Boots are available from our Boot Barn free of charge. While riding, do not bring bags, purses, backpacks, or unsecured sweaters and sweatshirts. Lockers are available for storing personal items (bring a combination lock). Hats, sunglasses, and jewelry are allowed if secured to the body. Water will be provided in the guide's saddlebag. Cell phones and cameras are allowed on the trails with assistance from the trail guide. Your guide can take pictures of you and your companions at scenic spots.
A valid driver's license or state ID is mandatory for all riders. Taking pictures of the property without written consent from the owners or managers is strictly prohibited. You may bring water or non-alcoholic drinks that fit in the guide's carry bag. Riding under the influence of drugs or alcohol is strictly prohibited and will result in the loss of your ride reservation.
Reservation and Cancellation Policy
To book your ride, call our reservations line at 213-761-0549.
Same-day reservations may be possible, but it is recommended to book at least three days in advance. During summer, rides are only available in the mornings and late afternoon/evenings, so weekend slots fill up quickly. We are not responsible for traffic conditions, so please check for local road conditions before your scheduled ride. Make sure all riders are aware of our policies, including dress code and other requirements. Upon arrival, please keep noise to a minimum to respect our neighbors. Children should be supervised and not allowed to run on the property or parking areas. We have a strict no-refund policy. Cancellations or rescheduling may incur a fee determined by the ranch, with some restrictions applying. We are not responsible for lost items at the ranch or on the trails.
Trail Ride Rates
Thank you for considering Shadow Hills Equestrian Excursions for your trail ride experience. We offer a range of packages to suit your preferences. The rates per person are as follows:
- 1-HOUR RIDE: $100
- 90-MINUTE RIDE: $150
- 120-MINUTE RIDE: $200

Private rides are available for double the rates listed above.

We also offer sunset rides, where you can join other riders and enjoy the beauty of the Tujunga Wash during the magical sunset hours.
The rate for a 90-minute sunset ride is $200.00 per person.
For a more exclusive experience, we offer private rides at double the rates mentioned above.
We also offer catered dinner from your favorite local restaurants, simply ask about our add- on services.
Payment Methods
We accept various payment methods, including cash, credit cards, and electronic transfers. Payment is due in prior to reservation.
Legal Notice
By participating in our trail rides, you acknowledge and agree to the following:
- All riders must sign a liability release waiver before the ride.
- Riders under the age of 18 must have a parental or guardian consent form signed.
- We reserve the right to refuse service to anyone for any reason, including but not limited to safety concerns or inappropriate behavior.
- Riders are responsible for following the instructions and guidelines provided by our experienced guides to ensure a safe and enjoyable experience.
- We recommend wearing appropriate attire, including long pants and closed-toe shoes, for your safety and comfort.
- Helmets are mandatory for all riders aged 9 and older. We provide helmets free of charge.
- We are not responsible for any loss, damage, or injury that may occur during the trail ride, including but not limited to personal belongings, accidents, or acts of nature.
